• Bonfire Night 2011

More than 300 eager members and their children converged on Stapleford Park in anticipation of the country house hotel’s annual bonfire and fireworks – and they were not disappointed.

After the massive bonfire had been lit in the field opposite the front of the hotel, a truly spectacular fireworks display brought a string of ‘oohs’ and ‘aahs’ as people craned their necks upward to witness the pyrotechnics exploding across the sky.

Rain and low cloud earlier in the day had thankfully moved away so everyone was able to enjoy the display at its best.

As people arrived earlier in the evening, they were able to go inside a specially-erected marquee at the front of the hotel where they could buy hot and cold drinks as well as enjoy a hog roast or ‘hot dogs’ while outside a ‘fire juggler’ kept everyone entertained.

After the bonfire was lit, while anticipation of the fireworks grew, youngsters waved sparklers and made patterns in the air while dozens of cameras flashed to capture family memories of the event.

During the evening a collection was made for the LOROS charity, the Leicestershire Organisation for the Relief of Suffering , which raised an impressive total of £363.65.
