• Clarins and Cupcakes Event

An irresistible combination of tasty cup cakes, top quality makeup artists and a fashion show drew around 270 women to Stapleford Park, near Melton Mowbray, for a charity evening of treats to satisfy both the eyes and the taste buds.

Almost £400 was raised for the Ovarian Cancer charity as both members of the country house hotel & spa and their friends got together to enjoy a wide variety of attractions at the Clarins & Cup Cakes event held in the hotel’s Orangery and Grand Hall.

On arrival, guests were given a decorated cup cake, courtesy of Simply Cakes, a glass of Champagne and a Clarins ‘goody bag’, before taking the opportunity to browse a series of stalls ranging from jewellery and gifts through to clothing and lingerie. There were even ostrich leather bags and feathers, and Christmas hampers.

An opportunity to have a complimentary Clarins hand massage or try Clarins facial products was also much enjoyed by many of those who attended, thanks to Tom Le Maire and the experts from Clarins.

The fashion show, with clothing provided by Jo Hooley at White Boutique, from Melton Mowbray, proved to be very popular, while a short section at the end when four brave men paraded in men’s underwear brought plenty of cheers and applause from the women present.

One of the women who attended said: “It was a very enjoyable evening out, with an opportunity to browse and buy, and was in a very good cause. It was terrific.”

The evening was compered by Cleo Lacey, an image consultant and fashion expert from Demi-Couture, while John Fox from Jems Photography took pictures to mark the event and Hawthorn Theatrical Ltd provided staging for the fashion show.

Exhibitors included JJ’s Lingerie from Melton Mowbray; Jamie at Home; Rutland Country Design from Ashwell; Silver Sentiments jewellery from Staffordshire; Giftbox from Loughborough; Dickinson & Morris foods from Melton Mowbray; Ostrich2Love from Stamford plus a Miglio Jewellery representative from Melton Mowbray.
