ROLLS ROYCE ENTHUSIASTS CLUB 40TH ANNIVERSARY AT STAPLEFORD PARK
Sunday, 19th July 2009 saw around 150 Rolls Royce & Bentley Enthusiasts, including an incredible collection of 50 Rolls Royce and Bentley cars dating back to 1912 visit Stapleford Park for the 40th anniversary of the East Midlands section of the club.
Members arrived with picnic hampers and umbrellas and enjoyed Champagne and Pimms on the lawn before a short speech from Club Chairman Jeff Dennis.
Jeff thanked Stapleford Park for their vision, wisdom and generosity in allowing the club to return after 40 years. The East Midlands Section was formed 40 years ago in 1969 and the sections first rally was held at Stapleford Park, the home of Lord and Lady Gretton. It was therefore felt that it would be very symbolic if they could return to the place from where it all started.
During the East Midlands sections 40 years, it has experienced many changes and has grown into a very active, vibrant and successful section of the Rolls Royce Enthusiasts Club.
Alan Wadd of Queniborough, was the only original member attending the 40th anniversary who attended the event 40 years ago. The main thing he noticed was the increase in numbers, in 1969 there were only a dozen members and just 6 cars.
